Evaluating the ease of switching? Learn how to migrate your organization from 1Password to Dashlane with this step-by-step guide.

Data migration doesn’t have to be complicated.

If you’re a security professional interested in what the process of migrating your organization from 1Password to Dashlane would be like, you’re in the right place.

Admins of Dashlane professional plans can migrate their organization’s logins and security data from 1Password to Dashlane in five steps.

Step 1: Deploy Dashlane to your organization

Before migrating data, you must establish your Dashlane environment. Use our Admin Deployment Guide to learn how to:

  • Create a professional plan
  • Access the Admin Console
  • Choose security settings
  • Add and onboard plan members

Step 2: Export data from 1Password

Everyone at your organization who uses 1Password needs to export their logins from 1Password to a CSV file.

If your plan members have any problems exporting, contact 1Password support.

Step 3: Import data from 1Password into Dashlane

Each plan member needs to import the CSV file they exported from 1Password. They can import a CSV file into Dashlane using our web app or Android app but not the iOS (Apple) or macOS app.

If your plan members have any problems, ask them to check out the common solutions.

Important: CSV files aren't encrypted, and other people can read them. Tell employees to delete the CSV file from their device after they finish importing their data.

Option A: Import 1Password data with the web app

Your plan members can follow these steps to import their data using the Dashlane web app.

  1. Select Import data at the top of the app. If you don't see the Import data button, open the Vault menu in the top left of the app, select Settings, and then select Import data.

  1. In the Import source menu, select the password manager you exported your data from. Or select Other CSV. Then select Get Started.

  1. Drag your CSV file to the app or select Browse your computer files to search for it, and then select Next. (Note: If you're a member of a professional plan with Spaces turned on, you'll be asked whether you want to import your data to your Personal or Business Space. Select the Space you want to import to, and then select Next.)

  1. Preview your import. You can change whether Dashlane imports an item as a login, Secure Note, or payment method. You can also choose not to import an item. (Note: Professional plan members whose teams have Spaces can choose whether specific items go to their Personal or Business Spaces.)

  1. Select Import items. You'll see a confirmation with the number of items imported.

Option B: Import 1Password data with the Android app

Your plan members can follow these steps to import their data using the Dashlane Android app.

They need to have the CSV file saved on their Android device or move the file to their device to complete these steps.

  1. In the Dashlane Android app, open the Vault from the side menu.

  1. On the Vault screen, select + Add new and then Logins.

  1. On the next screen, select Import multiple items.

  1. On the Where are you importing data from? screen, select From a CSV file.

  1. On the next screen, select Select file. You may need to enter your Master Password or unlock Dashlane with your face or fingerprint. (If we need more information, a pop-up appears with the title Let's match your file. Select Start matching.)

  1. We'll ask you to identify the data in several examples. For each item, select Website or app, Username or email, Password, or Other. If you mark an item as Other, that item won't be imported. Then select Next. (Note: If we don't need more information, you won't see the Let's match your file pop-up. We'll import your data directly. Review the data. If you don't want to import an item, clear its checkbox. When ready, select Import.)

Step 4: Recreate your sharing settings

After your members import their data into Dashlane, you can recreate any data sharing or group sharing you had in 1Password.

Step 5: Uninstall 1Password

After all your organization's data and settings have been moved to Dashlane, ask your members to uninstall any 1Password apps. Otherwise, they might have problems using Autofill and other Dashlane features.
