If you’re a security professional interested in what the process of migrating your organization from Keeper to Dashlane is like, you’re in the right place.
This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough for admins and team members to ensure a secure data transfer, vault setup, and member onboarding.
Step 1: Deploy Dashlane to your organization
Before moving data, the admin must set up the environment. Dashlane’s Admin Console allows you to manage security settings, billing, and member seats.
Access the Admin Console to configure your security policies, and visit the Dashlane Deployment Guide for Admins for detailed onboarding instructions.
Step 2: Export data from Keeper
Every member of your organization currently using Keeper must export their individual vault data.
- Open the Keeper app.
- Follow Keeper's instructions to export data as a CSV file.
Step 3: Import Keeper data into Dashlane
You can import your Keeper CSV file using the Dashlane Web App or the Android App. (Note: Import via CSV is currently unavailable on iOS and macOS apps).
Security note: CSV files are plain text and unencrypted. Advise all team members to delete the CSV file immediately after the import is complete.
Option A: Import via the Dashlane Web App
- Log in to the Dashlane Web App.
- Select Import data (top right). If not visible, go to Vault > Settings > Import data.
- Choose Keeper from the "Import source" menu and select Get Started.
- Drag and drop your CSV file or browse your computer to upload it.
- If your plan uses "Spaces," choose to import to your Personal or Business space.
- Preview the items. You can edit the category (Login, Secure Note, or Payment) or deselect items you don’t want to import.
- Select Import items. A confirmation will show the total number of items successfully moved.
Option B: Import via the Dashlane Android App
- Open the Dashlane app and select + Add new.
- Choose Logins, then select Import multiple logins.
- Choose From a CSV file and select your Keeper export.
- Field Matching: Dashlane will ask you to categorize the data (Website, Username, Password, etc.). Match the fields and select Next.
- Review the list and select Import.
Step 4: Recreate your sharing settings
To maintain security and collaboration, you must manually recreate your organizational sharing structure.
Step 5: Uninstall Keeper
To avoid confusion and any Autofill issues, ensure all members uninstall Keeper from their devices and browsers once the migration is confirmed.
