I joined Dashlane last December and immediately began working on the iPhone version of our secure desktop application. And today, I am really proud to announce that the first iteration of the Dashlane iPhone app is finally here!

Download it from the App Store for free right now:

What you should know about Dashlane for iPhone V.1.0:

  • A mobile vault: You’ll now be able to conveniently access all your contact information, ID’s, and logins/passwords wherever you go
  • Super-safe: The app maintains the same level of encryption & decryption on mobile as Dashlane does on desktop and the web-app (More on this below)
  • Convenience: This first version allows you to easily copy/paste all passwords and launch the login pages straight from the app
  • More to come: We focused on contact info and logins/passwords first because based on your feedback this is what you wanted most urgently — payment info and browser integration coming next! And while this version is read-only, editing capabilities are on their way, too.

The level of security put in place in order to assure the safety of our users’ personal data is very high at Dashlane. Of course, it’s quite challenging to achieve this on the relatively limited resources on an iPhone, especially compared to a desktop PC or Mac.

Working with the team here, however, we came up with a good solution — we can really say our mobile app is just as secure and private as the desktop versions of Dashlane! Of course, maintaining the same level of security comes at some cost. For example, the account loading is not instant since all decryption happens locally, but it is reassuring to know that your data is handled with the level of security Dashlane users have come to expect.

Here you can see a screenshot of the local decryption process:

Building this first version of the app has been fun, but the real excitement is knowing about all the features we have planned that will take this application to another level. The work has just begun!

In the meantime, I’m eager to hear what you think, and to field any questions or comments you might have!
