25 Responses to New Release: An All New Browser Extension & Customizable Password Generator!

  1. A says:

Dang, I think I switched back to 1Password a little too quickly with all its faults. A way to access passwords offline (having physical access to the database in case Dashlane dies) and hotkeys are the last things that are making me stick with 1Password’s clunky interface!

  2. Ashley Thurston says:

You can access Dashlane offline, plus you can always export your passwords (if you know you have a really good place to store them). You make a good point about hotkeys – they just got bumped up the to-do list.

  3. Hey, someone from support told me that the reddit.com bug would be fixed in 1.7 – can I just confirm that it has indeed been fixed? I would love to be able to tell my friend that he can use Dashlane again without it constantly freezing his browser.

    • Ashley Thurston says:

Hey Bernardo – The Reddit bug is tricky. It was rather isolated and hard to reproduce, but we fixed what we could find/had info on. That being said, it would be really helpful if your friend tried the new version & let us know how it goes!

      • Awesome – both my friend and I had the same bug, I’ll report back on whether it is fixed in the new version. The person I spoke to said he was able to reproduce the bug, so I’m optimistic :)

  4. Cody says:

I would love to see a profiles feature so that we can keep work life and personal life and even multiple company’s all separate from each other. Any idea if this is on the road map?

    • Ashley Thurston says:

Hey Cody – We aren’t planning on adding profiles. But if you’re looking for a way to organize & separate different credentials, you can customize the categories that they’re saved under. All of the category names can be edited and you can add/remove them as well.

  5. Grey says:

User interface features are fine, but Dashlane still doesn’t handle htaccess logins. That’s a show stopper for me. I ask about it every time I get an update announcement, and I always get a response of “We’re working on it.”

I think that needs to be bumped up ahead of hotkeys. htaccess is the most basic form of web authentication, and I think it’s a bit more important than some UI changes. I’m sticking with LastPass because they do handle htaccess, and at some point I’m going to give up waiting for Dashlane.

    • Ashley Thurston says:

Hi Grey – Thanks for your comment. We hear you on the basic http authentication – our own devs would love to have it as well – but it’s not as easy to implement as you think. We’ve been working consistently on it, but we don’t have an ETA. It is being prioritized, however, and the time spent new UI and hotkeys isn’t detracting from its progress. Hope that helps!

  6. David says:

It would be really nice if clicking on the Dashlane extension button again would collapse the menu, instead of re-launching it. That would eliminate what seems to be a pointlessly redundant feature with what is intuitive (to me at least), like an on/off switch.

  7. Barbara Pilgrim says:

Imagine my delight in signing on to my computer this AM and seeing an update for Dashlane. Imagine my disappointment when I installed it and now it no longer works in my Firefox browser. The icon just spins and spins. I continuously had this issue in my Mac, which never got resolved. Now this latest just started happening with my brand spanking new Windows 8 laptop, bare bones Firefox with no other add-ons installed or enabled. I’m not thrilled with IE, Chrome bogs me down, and finally thought I found a home with Firefox. *sigh*

  8. Geoffrey Davis says:

I did the upgrade on two computers running Windows 8, Internet Explorer 10, and Fire Fox 18 both HP’s Laptop works Desktop AIO doesn’t launch Dashlane. A surprise to me as it worked with previous version. So far support hasn’t been able to help me. Install added icons all files are in the right spots but it won’t run help.

  9. Vikram says:

Same as Geoffrey. The major upgrade worked yesterday, but after another update it doesn’t launch even from start menu, firefox extension doesn’t work. system tray fills with icons that don’t work.
Windows 7, Firefox 18, on a Lenovo and an HP.

  10. Jerry says:

I have the same problem that Barbara and Vikram have.

    • Vikram says:

If I launch from Start (Win7), the Master Password box comes up for a couple of seconds, then disappears either when or before I try to type in the password. The process shows up briefly in task manager and then disappears on its own.

      • Vikram says:

Jim Chesters at support just sent me a hotfix to try. It works perfectly on my system. I think it should be posted live as soon as they finish testing. Thanks very much!

  11. Allen says:

I like the new Chrome Dashlane interface. There is one item that could easily improve the password generator. Would it be possible to add a “copy to clipboard” button? This is a simple Idea but it would make the interface a little easier to work with.

  12. Carel DeWinkel says:

Can I use Dashlane on my Macbook running OSX 10.6.8 and the Safari browser fully synched with a Dashlane app on my Ipad2 and iphone?

  13. Ashley Thurston says:

    Hi Carel,

You can use Dashlane on your Macbook with Safari, and you can sync your account to your iPhone. Our iPad app is in the works, but it’ll be a few more months before it’s ready.

    Thanks!
