Dashlane’s Strong Password Generator automatically creates and auto-fills unique passwords for you, making it easier than ever to stop reusing your passwords. It’s just takes a few simple clicks. Here’s how it works:

1. Log in to the site that you want to change the password for, and go to the “change password” page, just like you normally would to change a password. (I’m showing Twitter since we recently launched a Security Alert for it.)

Change Password

2. Once you click in the “New password” field, and Dashlane’s Strong Password Generator will pop up. Click “Generate Strong Password”.

Click to Generate Strong Password

3. Dashlane automatically fills in your new, randomly generated, strong password. You just have to save the changes you’ve made on the site.

Save Changes

4. Then replace the old password Dashlane has stored with the new one.

What happens if you accidentally click “Cancel”? No worries. You can find all the passwords that you create using the Strong Password Generator here.

Now that you know to create strong passwords without giving yourself a headache, hop to it! Unique passwords are one of the best ways to protect your data online.

Is there a way to make the ‘Strong Password’ longer & to use special characters?

  2. Ashley Thurston says:

Not yet, but you’ll soon be able to do that! Hang in there, not much longer now :)

  3. How about if you want to go in the opposite direction — turning the strong password generator OFF so that it doesn’t pop up every time you want to enter a password?
