We’ve been working hard here at Dashlane to ship out a whole bunch of new features and fixes for you — and we’re excited to announce the framework upon which our upcoming premium functionalities will operate as we move forward. With no further ado, here’s what’s new in V.1.1 which you can now access:
- Profile completion: This feature makes it easier than ever to get started using Dashlane’s many functionalities — from filling out your contact info so you never have to type them in any form again, to adding your payment info so you can check-out anywhere in seconds!
- Point system: You can now earn points by using Dashlane to do everything from logging in automatically to recording your online purchases. Points will unlock new features on Dashlane, like access to our soon-to-come mobile apps. The fastest way to rack up points is to invite friends to use Dashlane!
- Badges: A fun way to encourage you to take control of your personal data, securely and conveniently. For example, by making 75% of your saved passwords super-safe, you earn a “Fortress” badge. Unlocking a badge also earns you bonus points!
- Login from search: Now launching your favorite web accounts is lightning-fast! Simply search for any website in our app, and you can launch it and log in directly from the search bar.
- More credit card types: We now support Discover, JCB, and DinersClub.
- Browser stability improvements: We have drastically reduced crashes related to installation and logging-out. We’ve also addressed the bug in Chrome for Mac which was causing the plug-in to disappear when the browser auto-updated.
- In-app credentials recoded for Mac: We’ve made the functionality a lot more powerful even if you have a bajillion logins and passwords stored.
- 511 bugs fixed: Thanks to your feedback, we’ve closed 511 bug reports of all kinds during this cycle!
As we’ve always told you, all of Dashlane’s current features on Macs and PCs will remain free for all users forever. Starting with this V.1.1 release, however, we are introducing the foundations for premium features on Dashlane. From here on out, you’ll be able to access these upcoming premium features in two ways:
- In a few weeks, you’ll be able to subscribe to Dashlane Premium in exchange for a small monthly or yearly fee, and have unlimited access to all the awesome premium features in future Dashlane releases.
- Alternatively, you’ll be able to unlock premium features using our new point system. These points can be earned simply by using Dashlane — the more you use the app, the more points you earn. And the fastest way to earn points is to invite friends to enjoy Dashlane, too! You can start earning points right away, with this V.1.1 release; more details on the point system are available here.
We’re psyched to announce that our very first premium features will be the iPhone app, which will bring Dashlane to you wherever you go, and a coupon assistant, which will not only save you time but also money when you shop with Dashlane. The iPhone app is currently being reviewed by Apple, which means we’re really close to its release date. (And yes, Android and iPad are close on its heels.) The coupon feature is a few more weeks out — but we’ll keep you posted.
As always, you can reach us via our Help Center or by emailing us at support@dashlane.com. And you can join our newly-launched Board of Users to help us craft the features we’re working on and the company we’re building, by emailing community@dashlane.com.
Thanks again for using Dashlane!
I’d rather have the iOS app being 0,79€ (or even up to 5€) and be able to use it forever, than having to renew a subscription (or earn points, which I already suspect I won’t get enough of, because I have (sadly) no friends interested in Dashlane) in order to be able to keep using it. Maybe add premium features in the app as in-app purchases…
This is a reason why I moved away from lastpass, because I didn’t feel having access to passwords on an application on an iOS device was worth paying for. I can understand some newer features that you’ll develop in the coming versions of Dashlane will be premium-only, and maybe I’ll even consider buying it (which means my whole comment here will be irrelevant, but still).
I know I could just keep using Dashlane in Safari for iOS for free, but that’s just a pain.
Hi Olivier, Thanks for your thoughts on this! We definitely understand that some people don’t want to deal with points at all — and you’ll definitely have an option to pay for Dashlane so that you don’t have to think about points and can just sit back, relax, and get access to every single new feature (including premium-only features) that we have coming in our development pipeline. We still haven’t figured out all the details of course — ah, start-ups! — so your feedback is very valuable. Thank you!
would just like to add that my previous comment wasn’t meant as a complaint as such, and merely a suggestion :)
Of course! You should join our Board of Users so you can provide more direct feedback around everything from pricing to features. Email us at community@dashlane.com.

I love this application and look forward to an iOS app to be released. I’m not sure how much I care about a points system but have an open mind about it for now. Do you know when you will release the details of this framework as far as the costs and/or subscription yet?
Like the above poster, i’m not looking for a new subscription but would gladly pay to purchase a license for this application as long as it doesn’t get too expensive.
Hi Rob, Thanks for chiming in! No exact date yet on official premium roll-out, but it’s definitely in the next few weeks, not months. Psyched to hear you’d be interested in paying for a premium version.
In order to provide more info, it’d be great if you joined our Board of Users — we’ll be conferring with that group often, as we already have for V1.1 about pricing and premium roll-out. You could contribute directly to the conversation with me and the rest of the team. Just email us at community@dashlane.com if you want to try that out!
Finally, password management made easy, I’m a lastpass premium user, lastpass is robust and secure but one big problem – UI, chrome / website / android app somehow lastpass UI sucks, dashlane excels in its UI.
Trust on a brand is very important for password management software, still I’m not fully trusting dashlane, don’t take me wrong, trying out the product, feels good, good job, hope i can switch to dashlane once android app is ready.
Meanwhile, if no big expert in security and stuffs, but more info about how passwords are stored and used by dashlane will help it to gain trust from its users, sponsoring some independent security audit is great.
Hi Riyaz!
You’re 100% right. The Dashlane brand must be equated with privacy and security, otherwise we can’t sustainably grow, given that we provide a solution for people to organize and use their sensitive personal data.
That’s why we’ve committed to such stringent security and privacy measures. You can read all about that — including detailed white papers — here: https://www.dashlane.com/en/security/ and here: https://www.dashlane.com/en/privacy/. You can also read a very detailed review by PCMag’s lead security analyst Neil Rubenking here: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2403231,00.asp.
An independent security audit is definitely on our list of to-do’s, but we want to get a few more features out so that we can receive a complete audit of all the features we’re readying for release to users.
Nice update, the points system is a bit weird to have for a password/autofill manager but does add a little bit of fun.
My only complaint is the mobile apps being premium. I consider mobile to be just as important if not more important than desktop platforms (Windows/Mac/Linux) so why not make it free? I sometimes browse more on my phone/tablet than my computer, so an app that’s free on Windows/Mac but paid on Android/iOS makes zero sense to me. If you MUST make it paid, make it a one-time fee.
Nonetheless, I’m eagerly awaiting an Android version. I hope you obey the design guidelines: http://developer.android.com/design/index.html
Hi Sunny! The points/badges are all calculated locally on your computer, so it’s as private to use as the rest of Dashlane. We implemented this system in order to engage people with all the different functionalities of Dashlane (e.g. if you’re just using Dashlane for passwords, it might help you discover all the commerce functionalities, etc.) and also in order to allow people who don’t want to pay for the forthcoming premium version of Dashlane to unlock certain premium features.
And this gets to your next question. If you don’t want to pay for premium features, like mobile, then you can unlock certain features with points. Of course, given that the easiest way to rack up points is to successfully invite a person to Dashlane, our hope is that you’ll consider inviting someone to use Dashlane fair trade for using our mobile app. And if you don’t want to invite anyone, then you simply have to use Dashlane to the point where you unlock access to the mobile app.
IMHO, the points and badges is does not suit a product like Dashlane. It’s too much to digest for a non-gamer. I’d have preferred a simple compensation plan like what Dropbox does – get one more user & take away 250 MB extra space.
What happened to Android? Did you forget about us? I agree with the comments above. Please make the Android application be a one-time paid price (no subscriptions please!). It’s the main reason I am looking to move away from last-pass.
Android is coming in July!
Great, thank you for the update Daniela! Can’t wait.
android please!?
It’s the middle of August! I’m ready to jump (not using any similar product at the moment), but really need the Android App that was due out in July…as long as it’s well-implemented of course.
Did I read somewhere that one can use the Google Authenticator app in conjunction with Dashlane?
Hi. I regularly use Dashlane and I am a big fan of the software. I was just wondering if you guys would be developing Dashlane for Linux systems too. I (and many people like me) dual bot systems to Windows + Linux. It would really be great if Dashlane would also be available for Linux. There are many other people who would wanting to use Dashlane on Linux. (source: https://getsatisfaction.com/dashlane/topics/dashlane_on_linux)
